Kern Schafer is the Managing Member of the Schafer Group, Ltd., LLC Certified Public Accountants and a specialist in tax accounting, financial analysis and management consulting. Much of Kern’s early experience in tax matters was as an IRS agent, and then, ultimately, a manager with the New Orleans Office of the Internal Revenue Service for more than six years, where he earned the Special Achievement Award from the Department of the Treasury.

He served as an Associate Professor of Tax and Accounting at Loyola University of New Orleans prior to establishing the firm in 1981. He was previously a staff accountant at the firm of Ott, Prados & Verlander. He is a partner in Schafer rentals.

Kern is a 1972 graduate of the University of New Orleans and received his Masters of Science in Accounting in 1972 nd received his Masters of Science in Accounting in 1977. He earned his Certificate from the State of Louisiana in 975. He is a Life Fellow in the American college of Forensic Examiners. Among the various boards of directors held by Mr. Schafer are Brother Martin Alumni, Theta XI Alumni, and Confederate Memorial Hall.

He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Louisiana State Society of Certified Public Accountants. He has been recognized in Who’s Who in Louisiana and Who’s Who, University of New Orleans. He has served as president of the College of Business at the University of New Orleans and as a Treasurer, Junior Division at University of New Orleans.
